Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will hold auditions for the 2009 Perkette Dance Team on Jan. 31, 9 a.m.-noon, at the Perkinston Campus. A workshop designed to provide routine instruction for the team audition will be held on Jan. 28, 6-8 p.m.
Participants should wear dancewear and jazz shoes or be barefoot. Music will be provided. However, participants attending the workshop must bring with them a blank cassette tape onto which a copy of the routine music will be recorded. Spectators will not be permitted at the workshop or auditions.
The Perkettes have been an icon at Gulf Coast since 1952. The elite female dance group is featured at Gulf Coast football games and other Coast events, such as Christmas and Mardi Gras parades.
