All Proceeds for the Benefit of Students and Faculty

On Saturday, April 28, the Largest Pulled Pork Serving will offer dinner plates to raise funds for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s #DOMORE Pantry. The food pantry is for students and employees at the college’s Jackson County Campus. Dinner plates can be purchased for $10.

A Record Breaking Event

The event, part of a Guinness World Book of Records competition, will be held from noon until 7 p.m. at Wilde’s Tavern in Ocean Springs. More than 3,000 pounds of pork will be cooked and served. There will also be a pork-eating contest, live music, raffles and an auction. Portions of the proceeds from the meals will fund the food pantry, along with other nonprofit organizations. In addition, for each plate purchased, one is donated. Over 1,500 meals have already been committed with additional meals based on plate purchase. The free meals will go to local non-profit kitchens, organizations and first responders including The Lord is my Help, Loaves and Fishes, Feed my Sheep, Brandy’s Hope, Ocean Springs Police and Fire Departments and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

Sponsors of the event include Pleasant’s BBQ, Overtime Sports, Wilde’s Tavern, Southern Event and Party, Shepherds of the Gulf, #DOMORE Pantry, and Smithfield Foods.
