Submissions are now being accepted for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s 2019 Creative Writing Competition.  This year’s competition includes six categories, including a new category for Comic Strips.  Other categories include free-verse poetry, fixed-verse poetry, short story, personal essay and critical essay.

Winners in each of the categories will be recognized at a special awards ceremony on April 11 at the Jefferson Davis Campus in Gulfport, where they will be given an opportunity to read an excerpt from their work.  The winning entries will also be included in MGCCC’s award-winning journal, “illumination.”

The deadline for submission is February 8, 2019, and all submissions must be made electronically.
