Estuarine Education Center Activities

We are a facility with staff certified and trained by American Canoe Association (ACA), Association of Challenge Course Technology (ACCT), Professional Climbing Instructors Association (PCIA), Wilderness First Aid, CPR, & AED.

Kayaking, Canoeing & Stand-Up Paddle Boarding

Our staff of ACA-certified and trained kayak instructors can teach you the skills to enjoy this wonderful sport, whether you choose to paddle on the bayou, river, or ocean. We have a range of kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddle boards to fit all sizes and skill levels, along with all the gear you’ll need to enjoy your paddling experience. We offer guided tours on Mary Walker Bayou (next to the college) and the Pascagoula River, or we can meet you at a venue of your choosing.

Ropes Challenge Course

Our Ropes Challenge Course represents the classic experiential learning experience. It is ideally suited for work groups, sports teams, family groups, church groups, military groups and school groups. Our facility has a Low Ropes Course that focuses on leadership, team-building, communication, trust, goal setting and problem solving, and a High Ropes Course that promotes personal challenge and growth with team encouragement and support.

Rock Climbing

Under the supervision of our trained rock wall climbing instructors, the EEC offers a 27-foot-high indoor climbing wall with three levels of difficulty, as well as a 45-foot outdoor climbing wall that is part of the High Ropes Course. Participants are “on belay” at all times, with a trained instructor maintaining control of the climber. Come learn the fun sport of rock climbing, or test your skills on our challenging routes.

Nature Trail

The EEC features two miles of public nature trail throughout the campus.
