About the Program
The Construction Engineering Technology program is an instructional program designed to prepare technicians for employment within the construction industries and firms.
Students completing the program will be prepared for jobs in supervision, estimating, layout, handling, storing, monitoring, materials, safety, leadership, and organization of construction projects. In the program, students learn about environment and workplace safety issues. Students also learn how to identify safety hazards and notify the proper authorities.Through an internship program, students have the opportunity to work in a position related to Construction Engineering Technology.
Career Opportunities
Students will be prepared for entry in mid-level management operations in positions like:
- Cost estimators
- Material specialists
- Planners
- Project managers
- Layout specialists
- Pre-construction engineer
Individuals currently employed as professionals will enhance their ability to perform their duties in the construction business.
Degree Options and Requirements
This program leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree and is preparatory for employment upon graduation from MGCCC. Where a transfer to four-year college or university is desired, a conference should be scheduled with a MGCCC advisor.
All students completing a career or technical program must complete a MGCCC Board-approved Technical Skills Attainment where applicable. Students should see an advisor for further details.
