MGCCC partners with Miller Co., The Communications Infrastructure Contractor Association NATE, along with Safety LMS and AccelerateMS to offer non-credit Telecommunications Tower Technician workforce training. Training is set to begin on April 8, 2024. Students must be 18 years old and have a valid Mississippi Driver’s License. The program is currently offered at no cost* to qualifying students.

About the Program

MGCCC offers this 3-week training option to address the workforce shortage in the area of Telecommunications Tower Technicians. This field is in high demand with a predicted employment growth of 25% and leads to higher than average paying jobs in Mississippi. Essential skills in new technology that have been identified by industry partners include areas such as fiber-optic and broadband. Training will utilize the existing national curriculum from NATE: The Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association that aligns with industry recognized credentials.

  • Industry Standards & Safe Practices

To address the workforce shortage in the area of Telecommunications Tower Antenna training, MGCCC is implementing a training program at the West Harrison County Center. This employment sector is in high demand with a predicted employment growth of 25% and leads to higher than average paying jobs in Mississippi. Essential skills in new technology that have been identified by industry partners include areas such as fiber-optic and broadband. Training will include regulatory safety standards, basic electricity, broadband, fiber optics, pole climbing, commonly used equipment, work practice controls, return demonstrations, fall protection regulations, tower rescue, rigging, and proper use of the equipment applicable to the appropriate job site. Training will utilize existing national curriculum that aligns with industry recognized credentials.
