During her time at MGCCC, White shined as a football and basketball cheerleader, while also excelling academically as a President’s List Scholar, graduating with high honors. Her leadership was evident in her roles as Secretary of both the Student Council and Phi Theta Kappa, as well as her involvement in the Tri-Campus Council and the Honors Colloquium Class. Her dedication to her fellow students extended to serving on the Harrison Hall Dormitory Council and the Student Food Services Committee, while she actively participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and worked as a work-study student. Her commitment to MGCCC was recognized through her selection for Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges.
After graduating from MGCCC, White continued her education at the University of Southern Mississippi, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in adult education. She built a distinguished career at Southern Miss Gulf Park Campus, where she worked for 37 years and retired as the Director of University Communications.
White’s professional and community contributions are extensive, including serving as President of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Symphony Board of Directors, participating in Leadership Gulf Coast, and being inducted into the Southern Public Relations Hall of Fame. She has also been recognized as one of Mississippi’s 50 Leading Business Women and received the Southern Miss Outstanding Alumni Award.
Beyond her career, White’s passion for serving others is reflected in her volunteer efforts with the American Cancer Society, her role as a cheerleading coach, and her active involvement in Harrison County Schools, where she was named Parent of the Year in 1999.
White is married to Greg, and they have two grown children, Lauren and Tyler, as well as a beloved granddaughter, Olivia.
White’s life is a testament to her commitment to education, leadership, and community service, both during her time at MGCCC and beyond.
