Jackson Wedgeworth of Soso finished his time at MGCCC with a bang. Not only did he graduate with honors in May, he and the rest of the MGCCC golf team won the NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship later that same month.

“It’s been an unbelievable time for me, that’s for sure,” he said. “I look forward to what the future holds, but I have truly enjoyed my time at MGCCC. I’ve learned a lot in my classes, in life and certainly from Coach Snell.”

During the tournament, Wedgeworth finished in a tie for fourth place at 5-under. He was named to the NJCAA All-American First Team and the All-Tournament Team.

“I have truly enjoyed my time at MGCCC. I’ve learned a lot in my classes, in life and certainly from Coach Snell, who played a huge role in both my athletic and academic life.”

“What an incredible experience!” he said. “I walked around in almost disbelief for a couple of days after the tournament. But it felt great to know all my hard work has paid off.”

Wedgeworth has received both a Phi Theta Kappa scholarship and a golf scholarship to continue his studies in biology at the University of North Alabama. He plans to specialize in marine biology. “I want to do marine research because I love the water,” he said. “It’s always been an important part of my life.”
