Katlyn Scott, a nursing student from Hurley, was named a 2018 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar through Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. The $1,000 scholarship can be used during the 2018 academic year to offset Scott’s educational expenses while at MGCCC.
“I plan to continue on in college and eventually get my doctorate in nursing,” she said. “Scholarships like this one help prevent me from going into debt as I work toward my goals.”
“Everyone at MGCCC – faculty, staff and other students – has been really friendly and helpful. That has allowed me to really open up, get involved and reach my potential for this time in my life.”
With her nursing degree, Scott hopes to work in labor and delivery while continuing to work toward her doctorate. She said she has a special love for babies and knows that she would love working that area of a hospital.
Scott, who is a sophomore, is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Honors College and the Student Government Association and is president of the campus chapter of Circle K International.
