Eric Castro retired from the Air Force after 20 years of active duty. Tired of moving around, he and his family decided to make the Mississippi Gulf Coast their home.
“I wanted to provide my family some stability after moving around so much,” he said. “We liked the area, so we settled down here.”
He said he really enjoys the ability to pursue his hobbies – fishing, hunting and golf. “This is just a great place to enjoy outdoor activities. We truly love living on the Coast.”
It wasn’t long after retirement that he started thinking about his next career move. With two teenage sons, who would soon be out of the house, Castro decided to return to school with the goal of becoming a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA).
Taking classes at the college’s newest location, the Bryant Center at Tradition, Castro said he appreciates the state-of-the-art equipment and the outstanding faculty. “My favorite thing about the nursing program is the extensive hands-on experience we get both in school and at our clinical sites. Having that kind of experience makes you feel more confidence in your ability to handle the job, no matter the emergency.”
“I asked many people about the best college for nursing. They all agreed that MGCCC was the place to go.”
