b"IT Specialist Technology (Perkinston Campus) The IT Specialist Technology program will provide students with the required skills and expertise to be employable as computer and IT support specialists to interface with IT hardware, communications, and mobile technology resources. The program prepares individuals to install, maintain, and service PC hardware and mobile IT systems as well as diagnose operational problems in these systems arising from software, mechanical, or electricalmalfunctions. In addition to PC and mobile support, further emphasis is placed on support of computer networks, server maintenance, and cloud technologies. Courses in the IT Specialist Technology program describe the skills, equipment, software, and hardware tools to properly support the information technology industry. This program will also emphasize oral and written communication skills and professional skills necessary for IT Support Specialists. The program curricula is mapped to CompTIA's A+ certification objectives. This program leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree and is preparatory for employment upon graduation from MGCCC. Where a transfer to 4-year college or university is desired, a conference should be scheduled with a MGCCC advisor. All students completing a career or technical program must complete either the MS-CPAS (Mississippi Career Planning and Assessment System) or an MGCCC Board- approved Technical Skills Attainment assessment where applicable.
