Tammy Franks, formerly dean of Business Services at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Jackson County Campus, has been named vice president of that campus. Her new job, which she began in March, is not new to Franks since she has served as interim vice president twice – for three months in 2011 and again in 2012.

“I rest on the shoulders of great administrators,” Franks said of her new position. “I plan to continue to move the needle in student success and building bridges among the great employees, exceptional faculty, and wonderful community partners.”

MGCCC president Dr. Mary S. Graham said that Franks is an asset to the college. “Ms. Franks’ outstanding leadership at the Jackson County Campus and her dedication to making the college the very best community college in the state and nation are qualities that continue to impress the college administration and leaders in the Jackson County community. I know she has many plans for the campus and look forward to seeing what she will accomplish there.”

A life-long resident of Jackson County and graduate of Pascagoula High School, Franks has been with the college since 1998 and has served as the dean of Business Services for the past 10 years. An MGCCC alumna, she received her associates degree from MGCCC. She received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from The University of Southern Mississippi, a master of Business Administration from William Carey University and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Higher Education Administration at USM.

While at MGCCC, she has received numerous awards and recognitions. She was chosen as Administrator of the Year for MGCCC Jackson County Campus through the college’s Association of Educational Office Professionals organization and received master trainer recognition. She is a Mid-South Community College Leadership Fellow, a MGCCC Leadership graduate, and a graduate of Leadership Jackson County. Likewise, as a doctoral student at USM, Franks received the A.J. and Elinor Comfort Memorial Scholarship and the W.L. Pierce Higher Education Leadership award.

Franks is an active member of Martin Bluff Baptist Church in Gautier and a member of Rotary club of Gautier. She resides in Gautier with her husband of 22 years, Michael, and their son, Jake, a Gautier High School student.
