Dr. Ladd Taylor, vice president of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston Campus and George County Center, was chosen for the 2023 Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished College Administrator award.  He was nominated by his Phi Theta Kappa chapters for the award and was selected in recognition of his outstanding support of student leadership and success.

“I am honored by the selection as Distinguished Administrator and have enjoyed working with so many outstanding PTK students as they seek to make our campuses and communities better places,” Taylor said.  “Phi Theta Kappa is an excellent organization that molds young people into the leaders of tomorrow.  I am pleased to be a part of that.”

An MGCCC alumnus, Taylor started his career at the college in 2002.  In 2010, he was selected as a Difference Maker for the college while serving as the college’s athletic director.  He was later named dean of Athletics (2011) and was named vice president of the Perkinston Campus and George County Center in 2014. From 2017-2020, he served on the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Commission for Student Success. He is past chairman and current board member of the Stone County Economic Development Partnership Board of Directors. In 2019, he was an AACC Future Presidents Institute participant and a Leadership Gulf Coast graduate.

Taylor has an associate degree from MGCCC, a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and master’s degree in Adult Education from The University of Southern Mississippi, and a specialist degree and doctorate in Higher Education Administration from William Carey University.

Taylor will be recognized alongside fellow Distinguished College Administrator honorees at PTK Catalyst 2023 April 20-22 in Columbus, Ohio.
