MGCCC’s Dr. Cedric Bradley Named Honorary Commander of 403rd Wing at Keesler Air Force Base
Dr. Cedric Bradley, Vice President of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County Campus, was inducted into the prestigious 403rd Wing Honorary Commander Program during a ceremony held on January 11, 2025, at Keesler Air Force Base.
The 403rd Wing, an Air Force Reserve unit at Keesler, welcomed Dr. Bradley alongside 16 other community leaders to the program, which aims to strengthen ties between the military and the Gulf Coast community. The Honorary Commander Program provides participants with an in-depth understanding of the wing’s mission, operations, and the vital role of reservists in national security.
“Our goal is to strengthen the bond between the Air Force Reserve and the community we serve,” said Col. John Benson, 403rd Wing Commander, during the induction ceremony. “These community leaders are our ambassadors, sharing our story and demystifying the military’s role in local and national contexts.”
As part of the program, honorary commanders engage with military leaders, participate in tours of operational facilities, attend briefings, and experience the challenges and triumphs of the 403rd Wing’s personnel. The program also fosters the exchange of ideas and expertise to enhance collaboration between the military and civilian sectors.
Dr. Bradley expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in this capacity. “It is an honor to be named an honorary commander and to represent MGCCC in such an esteemed program,” he said. “I look forward to learning more about the 403rd Wing’s critical mission and exploring ways to strengthen the connection between the college and the military community.”
The 403rd Wing operates 20 C-130J and WC-130J Super Hercules aircraft, which are utilized for tactical airlift and weather reconnaissance missions. The honorary commanders’ tenure will include participation in wing events and activities, allowing them to gain unique insights into the Air Force Reserve’s contributions to national security.
MGCCC congratulates Dr. Bradley on this significant recognition and looks forward to the collaboration that will result from his service as an honorary commander.
