Colby Entriken helped Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Men’s Golf reach the pinnacle of junior college competition in 2018, playing a key role in one of the greatest seasons in program history.
He helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2018 NJCAA District D Championship, earning Gulf Coast a berth in the NJCAA National Championship Tournament. There, the Bulldogs captured the 2018 NJCAA National Championship, adding their names to MGCCC’s proud tradition of championship athletics.
Entriken also distinguished himself individually during the historic season. He earned NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention recognition and tied for 25th individually at the national championship tournament while helping Gulf Coast secure the team title.
But his impact on the Bulldogs extended well beyond his scorecard. Known for his confidence, attitude and ability to elevate his teammates, he embodied the team-first mentality that helped propel Gulf Coast to the national championship.
“Colby Entriken is the epitome of a team guy,” said MGCCC Men’s Golf Head Coach Brad Thornton, who was an assistant coach during the 2018 championship season. “His ability on and off the course to uplift the team with his golf game and attitude was infectious. His confidence as a competitor helped the team to reach its highest level of success in program history.”
After Gulf Coast, Entriken continued his collegiate golf career at William Carey University, where he earned Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar honors and was selected to the SSAC All-Conference Team for the 2020-2021 season.
He has continued to demonstrate the same commitment to leadership and teamwork in his professional and community life. He has taught physical education and coached boys’ and girls’ basketball at Hancock Middle School and served as an assistant high school boys’ basketball coach from 2021 to 2024. He currently works in quality control management at Gulf Coast Pre-Stress in Pass Christian.
