Colonel Jeannine M. Ryder, commander of the 81st Medical Group and Keesler Medical Center, Keesler Air Force Base, will be the keynote speaker at the 2017 MGCCC Commencement.
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will hold its 2017 Commencement Ceremony at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi. More than 1,100 graduates are expected to participate in the event.
This year, 2,265 individuals are earning 3,580 credentials or degrees, and more than 800 students are projected to graduate with honors distinction.

Adult Education Ceremony
MGCCC will also hold the annual Adult Education Ceremony on Wednesday, May 10 at the coliseum. It will begin at 7 p.m. Sandy Crist, state director of Adult Education and High School Equivalency at the Mississippi Community College Board, will be the keynote speaker. More than 100 program participants will graduate.
Allied Health Pinning Ceremony
The Allied Health Pinning Ceremony is held on the morning of commencement, May 11. The event will begin at 10 a.m. at the coliseum. Almost 140 graduates in the Associate Degree Nursing, Funeral Service Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Radiologic Technology and Surgical Technology programs will state their oaths, receive awards and participate in the candle-lighting ceremony. During the Pinning Ceremony, Dr. Elizabeth (Libby) Mahaffey, dean of Nursing and Allied Health at Hinds Community College, will speak.
