Sun Herald People's Choice Award for First Place emblemMississippi Gulf Coast Community College was voted as the first-place winner in the Best College and the Best Trade/Technical School categories in the 2018 Sun Herald People’s Choice Awards. In its fifth year, the People’s Choice Awards garnered more than 377,000 votes from 22,000 people along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by the people of South Mississippi in two categories,” said Dr. Mary S. Graham, MGCCC president.  “Winning in these areas means we are on the right track in what we do at MGCCC, and we plan to continue working toward making MGCCC not only the best in South Mississippi but in the nation.”

For the past several years, MGCCC won the Best Trade/Technical School, but the Best College category was added this year.  With competition from several other colleges and universities along the Gulf Coast, this year’s win in the Best College category is significant.

Graham says, “MGCCC is dedicated to offering outstanding educational and training opportunities to the people of South Mississippi. The continued focus on rigor and technology innovation in our classrooms ensures our students get the very best preparation to reach their goals. Additionally, the college offers a variety of workforce training and career and technical programs based on employment-trend research along the Coast.”

The People’s Choice Awards is a poll conducted by Excelerate Digital for the Sun Herald. Results of the complete poll are listed in the Sun Herald’s July 26 edition. For more information, visit sunherald.com.
