Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will begin offering five accelerated Career Programs in fall semester 2020 that will allow students to earn a diploma in one year.  The career programs include Auto Collision, Cosmetology, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, HVAC and Welding.

“We are always looking for the best ways to offer our students and the community opportunities for educational and training success,” said Dr. Mary S. Graham, MGCCC president. “Gulf Coast has streamlined the process for students in these career programs, allowing them to be more focused on their classes and enter the workforce at a faster pace.”

This innovative approach will allow students to complete a program in three semesters for one all-inclusive cost. Students who successfully complete the program will receive both a certificate and diploma that will give them the credentials they need to begin a career. In addition to the core program, students can quickly earn their associate degree tuition free, which would allow them transfer to a four-year institution.

Graham said that more programs are scheduled to be added to the accelerated program line-up over time.  “Once we have these programs successfully launched, we plan to expand it to include other technical programs.  Future students can look forward to additional programs in fall 2021.”
