MGCCC introduces AI and Data Technology program to prepare students for rapidly growing careers in artificial intelligence and data analysis
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is excited to announce the launch of its newly revamped AI and Data Technology program, formerly known as Data Analytics Technology. This program introduces a modernized curriculum focused on artificial intelligence (AI) applications in data inspection and predictive analysis, equipping students with high-demand skills essential to the evolving landscape of data and technology.
The AI and Data Technology program offers students a comprehensive learning experience, covering key areas such as machine learning, natural language processing, and AI for computer vision. The program will prepare students to develop, maintain, and operate intelligent systems that can process and interpret data, paving the way for advanced applications in fields from business to healthcare.
“With the shift to AI and Data Technology, our program will now provide students with enhanced skills that better align with industry needs and emerging job opportunities,” said Robin Hayes, an instructor for the program. “By learning to harness AI for data inspection and predictive analysis, students will be positioned to bring value to organizations and businesses, empowering them to make data-driven decisions that can transform industries.”
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers in data analysis are experiencing a growth rate much higher than the national average. This increase is fueled by the demand for professionals skilled in data management and AI applications, where expertise can directly impact business outcomes. Analysts median hourly income depends on the location where they work, education, and job experience.
MGCCC’s AI and Data Technology program leads to an Associate of Applied Science degree and prepares students for immediate employment upon graduation or transfer to a four-year college or university.
Through hands-on learning in data analysis, visualization, and AI technologies, students will gain essential skills that position them competitively in today’s job market.
The AI and Data Technology program is now enrolling students for the Spring 2025 semester. For more information, visit mgccc.edu/ai-and-data-technology.
