As President of the Student Government Association at the George County Center and a member of the Reflections Team, Long says his time at MGCCC gave him the foundation to lead with confidence and purpose. “Being involved in student government and Reflections helped me grow as a leader,” he said. “The wonderful faculty and staff at the college have made a tremendous impact on my life, one that has prepared me for future success.”

Long balanced academics and campus leadership while volunteering as a firefighter with the Rocky Creek Fire Department. His commitment to service runs deep, and now, with his associate degree in hand, he’s charting a path that reflects his passions. “I plan to continue serving as a firefighter while pursuing my bachelor’s degree in worship leadership,” he said.

Coming from a family with strong MGCCC ties—his mother, Rebecca, and sister Brooke both attended the Perkinston Campus, as did several aunts and cousins—Long was proud to carry on the tradition. As the youngest of his siblings, he draws support and encouragement from his close-knit family, including his two older sisters, Brooke and Charity. Charity and her husband, Bryce, are raising their daughter Felicity, adding another generation to a legacy of love and strength.

Long credits MGCCC for helping him not only complete high school, but graduate with a college degree. “I am thankful for the support I received at MGCCC,” he said. “It’s an experience that shaped who I am and who I want to become.”

Whether he’s running into danger or lifting voices in praise, Micah Long is ready to lead—and to serve.
