Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County Campus will host the annual Christmas at Jackson County on Friday, December 7, at 7 p.m. in the campus Fine Arts Auditorium.  The event will feature the Jackson County Campus Concert Choir and the vocal ensemble JC Voices.

This year, the choir performance will focus on a beautiful work by French composer Camille Saint-Saens’ Oratorio de Noel sung in Latin with string and piano accompaniment.

“The Oratorio de Noel is a stunning, emotional journey highlighting the reason for the season,” said Kate Sawyer, choir director and director of Choral Activities at the Jackson County Campus.  “Other beautiful and traditional holiday music will be performed as well.  Christmas in Jackson County is a show well worth seeing!”

The event is complimentary and open to the public. A $5 donation for presale tickets will support Jackson County choral activities and includes prime seating, along with wassail and a holiday cookie in the lobby before the performance.

“The time and effort we’ve poured into preparing for this performance is without a doubt the highlight of my year,” said Nathanial Geter, sophomore music major. “I cannot wait to show off everything we’ve learned.”
