Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College has named Adrienne Cocco-Eaves as Director of Bands, effective June 2026. Cocco-Eaves becomes the first female Director of Bands in the college’s history and will lead the nationally recognized Band of Gold into its next chapter of excellence.

Cocco-Eaves brings extensive experience and a proven record of leadership within the MGCCC music program. She has served as Assistant Band Director and Brass Instructor, playing a key role in shaping the student experience through leadership of the Brass Ensemble and Jazz Band, recruitment and scholarship initiatives, show design, instructional development, and support of all aspects of the Band of Gold program.

“Adrienne has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our students, our music program, and the traditions that make the Band of Gold such a special part of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College experience,” said Dr. Mary S. Graham, MGCCC president. “Her leadership, passion for student success, and vision for the future of the program make her exceptionally qualified for this role. We are excited to see the Band of Gold continue to grow and thrive under her direction.”

A respected educator, performer, and advocate for student achievement, Cocco-Eaves has been instrumental in advancing academic success initiatives and community engagement efforts throughout her tenure at MGCCC. Her dedication to preserving the rich traditions of the Band of Gold while building upon its legacy has earned the respect of students, colleagues, alumni, and community members alike.

“I am honored and thrilled to be named the Director of Bands for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College,” said Cocco-Eaves. “The Band of Gold has a history of excellence and traditions that we will continue to uphold and share with our community. I look forward to serving the college and this outstanding program. The Band of Gold is the place to be!”

Beyond her work at MGCCC, Cocco-Eaves remains actively engaged in music education and performance throughout the region. She serves on the Board of the Mississippi Junior and Community College Band Association, where she provides leadership and advocacy for community college band programs across the state and region. She is also an active member of the Gulf Coast Band Directors Association and the Mississippi Bandmasters Association and performs as a member of the Coastal Winds Adult Community Ensemble.

As a private trumpet instructor, Cocco-Eaves has mentored numerous students who have earned prestigious honors, including selection to the Mississippi Lions All-State Band, the Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall, Buglers Across America, and the All-American Army Honor Band, among many other distinguished achievements.

Cocco-Eaves is married to Brandon Eaves and is the mother of 2-year-old Zane, a future Bulldog.  Under her leadership, MGCCC will continue its tradition of musical excellence while providing exceptional educational experiences for student musicians across the Gulf Coast.
