Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is hosting the Mississippi Undergraduate Honors Conference February 7-8 at the Hospitality Resort Management Center at the Jefferson Davis Campus.  It’s a statewide event that provides college and university students in Mississippi the opportunity to present their Honors research projects.

Teresa Wells, Jefferson Davis Campus Honors College director, said this is the first time MGCCC has hosted the event for the state.  “We are thrilled to host the event for the first time,” she said.  “We have a lot of great things planned for students along with the project presentations. We know participants from across the state will enjoy the event.”

Wells said they expect at least 60 students and Honors advisers to attend the event and have scheduled more than 25 presentations on Saturday, February 8.

“Students will make oral presentations or poster presentations and judges will choose winners in each category,” she said.  “This is not only a great opportunity for these students to do in-depth research, it also provides them a chance to get their work published.”

An awards ceremony wraps up the event on Saturday.
