The Perkette Dance Team from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston Campus was awarded third place at the Universal Dance Association’s 2021 Virtual College National Championships on April 12. The Perkettes were the only community college squad competing against four-year college and university teams during the Open Jazz Division competition.

“The Perkette Dance Team continues to grow in talent, dedication, and passion each year,” said Britney Patten, Perkette dance coordinator and choreographer. “It was a challenge to compete virtually this year, but the team met that challenge very well. We are grateful and humbled to be sitting third in the nation, and I am eager and excited to see where we go from here.”
