Welcome to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College! We’re excited you’re considering starting or continuing your education with us.

A Veteran/Military Dependent Student is a student who has military connections and may be eligible to receive military benefits to help cover the cost of education. Military connected students may be new incoming freshmen, transfer students, or transient students.

Steps To Enroll

To enroll as a Military Connected Student at MGCCC, please complete the following steps:

Step 1: Apply for VA Education Benefits

Apply for Education benefits at VA.gov. If eligible, you will receive a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the VA within 30 days. Submit this to the MGCCC Military Benefits Processing Office via the secure VA Certificate of Eligibility form.

Step 2: Apply for Admission at MGCCC

Complete the online application for admission.

Step 3: Submit Documentation

Submit all requested documents and official transcript in a timely manner to admissions. If applicable, request official military transcripts sent to admissions:

Step 4: (Optional) Apply for Financial Aid

Apply for FASFA Pell Grant and federal student loans at studentaid.gov. Students can use FASFA and VA benefits at the same time.

Step 5: Register for Classes

Visit the Enrollment Center at your campus to meet with an Enrollment Specialist. Be sure to review Top Things VA Students Need to Know.

Be sure to communicate with the Enrollment Specialist, and your future advisor, that you are using VA benefits as this may impact how you select classes and arrange your schedule for maximum benefits.

Step 6: Complete the Notification of Enrollment

Complete the Notification of Enrollment form. Certification will not begin until this is received and must be completed after class registration each semester.

Note: This is separate from the VA’s monthly verification.
