Welcome to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College! We’re excited you’re interested in taking classes with us as an Incoming Freshman.

An Incoming Freshman Student is a student who may have taken dual enrolled or dual credit courses, but has never been a full-time college student. This applies to students of all ages.

Steps to Enroll

To enroll as an incoming Freshman Student at MGCCC, please complete the following steps:

Step 1: Apply For Admission

Complete the MGCCC Admissions Application and select Incoming Freshman as your student type.

Step 2: Submit Transcript

Submit your final official high school transcript to the admissions office on the campus you’ll attend. You can submit it by:

  • Delivering it in-person to an Enrollment Services Center*
  • Requesting your high school to submit it directly to the admissions office
  • Or by submitting a request through a third-party credential service such as Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, or Scribbles.

*Physical transcripts are considered official only if they remain sealed in the original envelope from the issuing institution.

Step 3: Submit your ACT Scores or Complete the ACCUPLACER

Submit your ACT scores or make an appointment to take the ACCUPLACER. Retrieve or submit your ACT scores through act.org.

If there is evidence of academic deficiency in Mathematics or English based on test scores, students will be encouraged to take developmental courses MAT 1134 and/or ENG 1114. These four hour courses have additional foundation building and will count towards graduation and will transfer to Universities.

ACCUPLACER retesting policy: when retesting is necessary, it should only occur after two weeks to allow sufficient opportunity for intervening learning/instruction.

Applicants are not officially accepted until all admission requirements are met by providing proper documentation. Documentation must be provided by the Friday of the 4th week of class. Students failing to do so shall be placed on hold and denied continued enrollment until required documents are submitted.

Step 4: Housing (Optional)

Students who plan to live in a Residence Hall on the Perkinston Campus must complete the MGCCC housing application.

Step 5: Financial Aid

Over 70% of our students receive assistance in the form of scholarships, grants, work study or loans. Contact Financial Aid to see how our experts can help make education affordable for you.
