NursingProcess.org has ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s licensed practical nursing (LPN) program as the best in Mississippi. The results are based on NCLEX-PN first time pass rates, academic quality, graduation rates, and several other key factors determined by each organization.

“Our nursing programs are all outstanding, but we are especially proud of the LPN program being named No. 1 in the state,” said Dr. Joan Hendrix, associate vice president of Nursing and Health Professions.  “Not only is the program affordable, but it also has the rigor required for students to pass the NCLEX-PN exam on the first attempt, and secure unimaginable employment opportunities prior to graduating.”

Following prerequisite requirements, students desiring to enter the LPN program at Gulf Coast have a choice of two options, the traditional LPN option, a three-semester program, and the medical assistant (MA)-to-LPN option, a two-semester program.

The practical nursing program boasts a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-PN and has a 100 percent job placement rate.  The college has nearly 500 nursing students in the Associate Degree Nursing, Practical Nursing and LPN, Paramedic, and Respiratory Therapist-to-RN transitional programs at the college’s Bryant Center in Biloxi.
