MGCCC launches new evening Electrical Technology program at Harrison County Campus

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is expanding access to in-demand career training with the launch of its new evening Electrical Technology program at the Harrison County Campus. Registration is now open. Classes will begin January 14, 2026.
The evening electrical classes will run Monday through Thursday, from 5:30-9:30 p.m., offering a flexible option for working adults, career changers, and students needing non-traditional scheduling. Expanding this program to evenings allows more students to pursue a career in the electrical field without sacrificing their current work or family commitments. This initiative supports both our students and the growing workforce needs across the region.
The new evening classes are part of MGCCC’s broader strategy to increase the number of trained electrical workers across the Gulf Coast. Through partnerships with the Mississippi Construction Education Foundation (MCEF), which serves major employers in the state and region, students will gain direct pathways into high-quality apprenticeships.
MGCCC’s approach ensures students earn industry-recognized credentials, gain hands-on training aligned with employer needs, and transition seamlessly into well-paying careers.
Students enrolling in the new evening electrical classes may also apply for Lowe’s Gable Grant scholarships, available each semester to help offset educational costs. These scholarships, made possible through Lowe’s nationwide workforce development initiative, aim to strengthen training programs and expand access for future skilled trades professionals.
In addition to the new evening format, Harrison County Campus offers a ten-month accelerated Electrical Technology program that allows students to move into the workforce quickly and George County Center offers the Electrical Technology as a day option. By offering flexible scheduling, enhancing student support, and aligning instruction with employer expectations, MGCCC continues to strengthen workforce readiness across the Gulf Coast. The evening Electrical Technology program will open doors to stable, high-demand careers while supporting industry needs throughout the region.
