The Gulf Coast Work Ready Program is designed to help residents attain basic skills, employability skills and the specific career skills required in high-demand industries along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. MGCCC can offer these programs to eligible students at NO COST* through a grant provided by the RESTORE Act.

* Some programs have additional costs associated with criminal background checks, instructional materials and external exam and licensure fees. Students may be responsible for the cost of these items.

Admission Requirements

Students must enroll at MGCCC and complete a “Work-Ready” credential specific to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to include employability skills training. Students must also meet admission requirements of MGCCC, program specific requirements and be Mississippi residents.

 

Programs

  • Cosmetology

    The Cosmetology program is an instructional program provides training in the theory, skills, and salon ethics that are required to become a licensed cosmetologist. Students practice techniques in a supervised salon setting.

  • Commercial Truck Driving

    The Commercial Truck Driving program prepares individuals to drive trucks and other commercial vehicles. Earn you Mississippi CDL license with as little as 12 semester hours (320 clock hours).

  • Maritime Multi-Craft Technology

    The goal of the Maritime Multi-Craft Technology program is to prepare individuals with technical skills in the field of Maritime Multi-Craft Technology leading to Yamaha Marine Maintenance Certifications, Forklift Operation and Heavy Equipment Operator Credential and the Gulf Coast Work Ready Credential. It includes an option to enter the Commercial Truck Driving program at no cost.

  • Massage Therapy

    The Massage Therapy program is a one-year certificate program designed to prepare students for careers as professional massage therapists. The curriculum prepares students to develop knowledge and skills for practicing massage therapy.

  • Unmanned Maritime Systems Technology

    The Unmanned Maritime Systems Technology program prepares individuals to gain employment as an Unmanned Maritime Systems Specialist for careers in shipbuilding, offshore petroleum/drilling, transportation, tourism, marine engine, or other maritime heavy-industry occupations.
