Born with a severe club foot, Abby faced numerous challenges growing up, including multiple corrective surgeries. At just 11 years old, she made the courageous decision to amputate her right leg to avoid a lifetime of surgeries and braces. Her journey, filled with countless hospital visits and inspiring encounters with compassionate healthcare professionals, sparked her passion for pursuing a career in healthcare.
After spending two years at the University of South Alabama, Abby returned home to enroll at MGCCC, where she discovered her true calling in Radiologic Technology. Now thriving in her clinical rotations, Abby is excited about her future as a Registered Radiologic Technologist. She plans to earn her associate degree, achieve ARRT certification, and further her knowledge by exploring advanced imaging technology such as MRI, CT scan, PET scan, etc.
In addition to her academic and career goals, Abby is deeply grateful for the support she’s received. “I’m so thankful for the opportunities MGCCC and the Bradley Emmett Bustin Scholarship have given me,” she says. “They’ve brought me closer to achieving my dream of a fulfilling career and a better quality of life.”
Abby’s story is one of resilience, determination, and hope—a testament to how perseverance and support can pave the way for a bright and meaningful future.
