Jackson County Campus to host director, actor and video game QA expert Eric Zala

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County Campus will host Eric Zala, director and star of “Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation” on Friday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. in the Warner Peter Administration Building Lecture Hall. The presentation is part of a special guest lecture series hosted by the Gautier campus.
Zala, from Ocean Springs, is the former executive director of the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center of Arts and Education and the Quality Assurance manager for EA Games, including the hit video game Borderlands 2. His lecture will also focus on how both film and video games are an important, often overlooked means of telling a story in the scholarly community. He will also discuss his inspirational story of perseverance and how he went from being a small-town kid in South Mississippi with big dreams to rubbing elbows with the likes of Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg. There will be a Q & A session after the presentation.
“We encourage those attending to watch his movie, labeled ‘The Greatest Fan-made Film Ever Made,’” said Rodney Mooney, language arts instructor at the campus. “It is available on Netflix under the title ‘Raiders.’ Even if you can’t watch it, the lecture is well worth attending, especially for science fiction and video game fans. Zala is truly an inspirational speaker.”
The event is complimentary and is open to the public. For more information, contact Mooney at 228.497.7726 or rodney.mooney@mgccc.edu.
