The Gulf Coast Honor Band Clinic is open to all 7th-12th grade band students and will be held on January 30-31, 2026, at Immersive Media Performing Arts Center on the Harrison County campus (map).
Selected students will pay a $50 participation fee, which covers one meal, a medal, and an Honor Band t-shirt.
All participants will need to have a supervising chaperone on-site for the duration of the clinic.
The Gulf Coast Honor Band Clinic includes:
- The chance to perform a fantastic set of concert music with other band students from Mississippi and neighboring states!
- Work with our fabulous guest directors!
- Attending a concert featuring the MGCCC Wind Ensemble and chamber ensembles!
Chair Placement Audition
This year, students will submit auditions via video!
- In addition to the audition excerpt, brass and woodwind students will perform 4 major scales (C, E-flat, E, A-flat for their respective instruments, NOT concert pitch – ie., C scale for trumpet will begin on C. C scale for alto sax will begin on C. C scale for trombone will begin on C. Etc.), the chromatic scale, covering the practical range of their respective instruments, and audition excerpt(s).
- In addition to the audition excerpt, percussion students will perform 3 rudiments [Flam Accents (Slow to Fast to Slow), Paradiddles (Slow to Fast to Slow), Concert (closed/buzz) Roll (pp to ff to pp) and 2 major scales (E major and A-flat major – both 2 octaves).
- You must record all materials in one take. A phone video with audio will suffice for these auditions. Be sure to post your audition video as “unlisted” (not private) and leave it up until after you receive your ensemble/chair placement for Gulf Coast Honor Band Clinic.
