Earn Your High School Equivalency with Adult Education Classes from MGCCC
Adult Education Classes
MGCCC offers Adult Education (AE) classes for those who do not have a high school diploma. Classes are located at the Jackson County Campus, the Harrison County Campus, the Perkinston Campus, the George County Center and the West Harrison County Center.
Off-campus/center classes are offered at the Gulfport One Stop WIN Job Center and the Pascagoula WIN Job Center. Class days and times vary at each site.
The College’s AE program provides individuals the opportunity to take classes that prepare them for a high school equivalency test (GED or HiSET) and to improve their reading, writing, language and/or math skills. Students may also earn a National Career Ready Certificate, Smart Start Certificate/Credential and explore Career Technical education and Workforce training options.Earn college credit while working on your high school equivalency
English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes
MGCCC offers ESL classes to students with limited English proficiency. Classes are available at the Jackson County and the Harrison County campuses.
Having a High School Equivalency means a person is 20% more likely to get a job and keep it. It also means earning 14% more income.
Orientation sessions are the beginning point for Adult Education students. During this session, students are assessed to determine which educational areas need to be addressed and classes are scheduled. Students must be at least 16 years of age and not currently enrolled in public school. Students under the age of 18 must provide appropriate documentation.
Orientation sessions and Adult Education classes are free of charge.
