• Certified Nursing Assistant

  This Mississippi State-approved hybrid non-credit healthcare program prepares applicants to sit for the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Mississippi. Upon successful completion of the program and the exam, the graduate is eligible for employment opportunities with various healthcare agencies, i.e. nursing homes, home health providers and community clinics.

• CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Training

  The Basic Life Support (BLS) Providers Blended non-credit Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and treat choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. This class meets the requirement of most healthcare facilities and other employers that require cardiopulmonary resuscitation as a condition of employment in the healthcare field. Student must be 16 years of age to take this course, be physically able to perform CPR, have access to a computer, and be able to read and write for successful completion of this course.

• CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor

  This non-credit course trains individuals to teach a variety of Basic Life Support classes and all AHA Heartsaver programs including: adult CPR, child CPR, infant CPR, AED use, first aid, pediatric CPR/first aid, and blood-borne pathogens. The American Heart Association’s Online BLS Instructor Essentials is an engaging, multi-media tool designed to provide a foundation for teaching and facilitating regardless of an instructor or instructor candidate’s area of specialization. Students must have a current AHA BLS provider card prior to taking this course and must complete the online BLS Instructor Essential course.

• Dental Assistant with Dental Radiology

  This 48-hour non-credit hybrid healthcare program prepares applicants for employment opportunities within dental offices. This program will prepare students on the different aspects of professional dental assisting, including virtual scenarios and dental charting. Dental assistants perform a variety of duties in the dental field including but are not limited to therapeutic communication, multicultural interaction, psychology, oral health, preventive techniques, nutrition, chair side instrumentation, infection control, equipment safety, equipment maintenance, dental office emergencies and pain/anxiety management. Students will also learn the basic principles of dental radiology to prepare for the MS Dental Board Radiography Exam.

• Dental Radiology

  This one (1) day, non-credit healthcare training prepares the dental assistant currently certified by the Dental Assisting Nation Board (DANB) and/or who is a graduate to a dental assisting program accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA) to apply for a Mississippi radiology permit. Individuals who are currently working or have worked in the dental field may also take this course. The students will learn basic principles of X-ray generation, image formation, biological effects of radiation, radiation protection, infection control, film processing and film mounting, intra-oral, extra-oral and panoramic radiographic technique, patient management and special problems. Upon successful completion of the program and obtaining the permit, the graduate is eligible to pursue additional opportunities in the dental field related to radiologic procedures.

• Dialysis Technician

  This 130-hour non-credit course is designed to prepare individuals with the theoretical, technical, and clinical skills needed to maintain equipment and provide patient care to those being treated for chronic renal (kidney) diseases in hospitals, clinics, and renal dialysis facilities. Class format includes lecture, lab, and the required clinical. After one year of work experience, students may sit for the national certification as a Clinical Hemodialysis Technician.

• ECG Technician

  This 48-hour non-credit hybrid healthcare program will prepare you to become an ECG technician, which involves monitoring and recording electrical impulses transmitted by the heart. The course prepares applicants to sit for certification through the National Center for Competency Testing for ECG Technicians (NCET), which is accredited through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). This course includes important practice and background information on the anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, electrocardiography, and stress testing.

• Heartsaver First Aid CPR & AED

  The AHA’s Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements, or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. The AHA’s Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED non-credit course trains participants to provide first aid, CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

• Pharmacy Technician

  This non-credit 140-hour hybrid healthcare program prepares applicants to sit for certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate is eligible for employment opportunities with various healthcare agencies. This program will prepare students for entry-level pharmacy technician positions by teaching medical and pharmaceutical terminology, basic anatomy related to the pharmacology of medications and pharmaceutical calculations. Pharmacy technicians assist licensed pharmacists by preparing prescriptions, ordering supplies, maintaining patient records, billing, mixing medications as directed by a board-certified pharmacist.

• Phlebotomy

  This hybrid 100-hour non-credit healthcare program prepares applicants to sit for certification through the National Center for Competency Testing for Phlebotomy (NCPT) which is accredited through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate is eligible for employment opportunities with various healthcare agencies. The phlebotomist’s primary function is to assist the healthcare team in accurate, safe, reliable collection and transportation of specimens for clinical laboratory testing.

• Physical Therapy Technician

  This non-credit hybrid course is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and the practical skills necessary to assist licensed rehab therapy practitioners in delivering effective patient rehabilitative care. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on-training, and on-site clinical experience, students will be prepared to pursue needed entry-level positions as physical therapy technicians in various rehab healthcare settings including hospitals, skilled nursing centers, and rehabilitation centers. Students are prepared to complete the Physical Therapy Technician Certification (PCCT).
