MGCCC hosts annual Student Leadership Conference on October 1

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College welcomed more than 100 student leaders from across its campuses and centers to the annual Student Leadership Conference held October 1, at the Harrison County Campus.
The conference brought together club officers, organization leaders, members of the Reflections Team, Student Government Association representatives, and Resident Assistants for a day of learning, collaboration, and inspiration.
College President Dr. Mary S. Graham and other MGCCC leaders engaged with students throughout the day, emphasizing the importance of leadership in both academic and professional success.
A highlight of the event was the panel discussion featuring distinguished professionals who shared their leadership journeys and insights:
- Briana Dubaz Pfarrer, MBA, Major Gift Officer, The USM Foundation, The University of Southern Mississippi
- Christopher J. Williams, Sr., Superintendent, Moss Point School District
- Ben Weldon, Manager of Workforce Development, Ingalls Shipbuilding
- Cody Breland, Owner and Founder, Wild Acres Hands-On Animal Experience
Students also participated in interactive breakout sessions focused on building leadership skills in practical ways. Session topics included building blocks of success, finding your voice, financial literacy, and being a successful employee. These were led by Mississippi professionals from business, education, and community leadership roles:

- Mollie McCarroll, Community Relations Representative, Ingalls Shipbuilding
- Grace Russell, Loan Originator, CMG Mortgage Inc.
- Sawyer Walters, Law Enforcement, Public Safety, and Leadership Skills Development Officer, The University of Southern Mississippi; Military Intelligence Officer, Army National Guard
