Savannah Webb: Piping Engineering Team Leader, Hargrove Engineers + Constructors
Savannah Webb, an MGCCC alumna, resides in Ocean Springs and works in Mobile. She plays a vital role at Hargrove Engineers + Constructors as the Piping Engineering Team Leader. Savannah’s academic path began with an associate’s degree in applied science from MGCCC, followed by a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Alabama.
On the Jackson County Campus, Savannah serves on the Advisory Board for the 3D Drafting and Design Technology Committee. At work, she contributes to the Purview Leadership Committee, identifying future leaders within the company, and acts as a technical assistant to the vice president of the Gulf Coast and Western regions.
Savannah’s choice of engineering was driven by her love for math and a desire to tackle challenges. Her parents were her biggest mentors, instilling in her the belief in self-discipline and the pursuit of success. Working in engineering has been rewarding for Savannah, who values her role and impact within the company and industry. She encourages young girls considering engineering to believe in themselves, embrace challenges, and continually strive for growth and excellence.
Marissa Barajas: Aspiring Software Engineer
Marissa Barajas, currently a student at MGCCC’s Jackson County Campus, lives in Moss Point. She is pursuing a major in software engineering and plans to transfer to a university to earn her bachelor’s and master’s degrees upon graduation.
Marissa is deeply involved in campus life, holding leadership positions in various clubs, including parliamentarian in SGA, vice-president in CAB, president in PTK, and memberships in the Oak Club and Hispanic American Club.
Her ultimate goal is to work with organizations like NOAA or NASA, programming unmanned maritime robots to explore and clean the oceans. Marissa chose engineering due to her fascination with technological trends and the potential to create world-changing technologies. Her mother has been a significant mentor, encouraging her to pursue her goals and excel in her educational journey.
In the field of engineering, both Savannah Webb and Marissa Barajas serve as remarkable role models for women. Their stories highlight the importance of mentorship, determination, and the pursuit of challenges.
