Saul Gonzalez portrait

Graduating from MGCCC’s Harrison County Campus in 1995 with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Construction Management, González began a path that blended academic excellence, military service, and professional achievement. His time at MGCCC not only equipped him with the technical skills needed for his career but also introduced him to lifelong connections—most notably, his wife, Angela Christine. Like Saúl, Angela is an MGCCC alumna, having graduated as a practical nurse. Together, they’ve built a strong family, celebrating 30 years of marriage and raising five children, including their daughter Amber, who also followed in their footsteps as an MGCCC alumna.

“MGCCC means everything to our family,” González reflects. “It served as our foundation and guaranteed our future successes.” This deep connection to the college has remained a cornerstone of his life, even as his career took him far beyond Mississippi.

Before attending MGCCC, González had already begun his distinguished 20-year career in the U.S. Navy Seabees, where he displayed commitment and leadership. His service earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious U.S. Army De Fleury Medal and the Seabee Combat Warfare Officer designation. His rise through the ranks of the Seabees exemplified his dedication to service and his technical expertise in construction and engineering.

Following his honorable discharge from the military, González leveraged both his military experience and academic achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Mississippi and an executive master’s degree in business administration from Rollins College’s Crummer School of Business. These qualifications paved the way for his success in project management and engineering, where he consistently demonstrated his leadership and expertise.

González’s diverse skill set includes DAWIA certifications in contracting, engineering, test and evaluation, and program management. His proficiency in cultural resources management, risk management, and program/project management highlights his commitment to continuous professional growth and excellence. His leadership within the U.S. Space Force, overseeing significant engineering projects, is a testament to his exceptional career.

Despite his impressive professional accomplishments, González remains deeply connected to his roots at MGCCC. His enduring gratitude for the college that shaped his early career drives his commitment to giving back to the community and ensuring future generations have the same opportunities for success.
