Jerry Love portrait

Throughout his time as a fullback, Love consistently demonstrated his athletic skills, finishing second in rushing and scoring for the team. His outstanding performance earned him an Honorable Mention on the All-State Team during his sophomore year, highlighting his contributions to the sport and Perk.

Jerry went on to play semi-pro football as a fullback for the Mobile Buccaneers.

Love’s connection to Perkinston Junior College extended beyond the football field. As the son of Cecil Lewis Reeves, the longtime superintendent of Buildings and Grounds at the Perkinston Campus who passed away in 1981, Love was no stranger to the college environment.

Now, he often mentions his great love for MGCCC and the many wonderful memories he cherishes from his years there.  He also regales his family with play-by-play details of his time on and off the field. His love of the college lives on as his daughter, Tharessa Williams, the Alumni & Events Coordinator, and his granddaughter, Brittney Holley, the Bulldogs Cheer Coach.

Love’s familiarity with the campus and its community and his dedication and skill in football made his time at Perkinston Junior College a memorable chapter in his memories and those of his family and the college.
