Longtime Trustee Commended for Years of Service

Wilbur Ward, of Lucedale, was honored at the December 13, 2017 meeting of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Board of Trustees’ meeting. Ward, who represented George County on the Board for 45 years, retired in December.

A resolution and plaque were presented to Ward for his years of service, which included serving in the key positions of chairperson, first vice chairperson, second vice chairperson, secretary and treasurer. Ward, former Circuit Clerk in George County, was also active on several Board committees including the Appeals Committee, Audit/Finance Committee, Building Committee, Nominating Committee and the Presidential Contract Review Committee.

Wilbur Ward has continuously worked for the betterment of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and the citizens of the community college district during his Board tenure

said Dr. Mary S. Graham, MGCCC president. “He is very active in community and civic organizations and focuses on advancement of George County and all of South Mississippi. Over the past half century, he has made a significant contribution to the success of the college. We owe him a debt of gratitude for his distinguished service and leadership.”
