Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is proud to announce that Dr. Mary S. Graham, President, and Dr. Kollin Napier, Director of the Mississippi Artificial Intelligence Network (MAIN), have been named finalists in the 2025 American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Awards of Excellence. This national recognition highlights their exceptional leadership and commitment to advancing community college education.

Dr. Graham is a finalist for CEO of the Year, a recognition of her leadership and dedication to enhancing educational opportunities at the local, state, and national levels. As MGCCC’s president, she has guided the institution toward growth and innovation, ensuring that students receive an exceptional education while positioning MGCCC as a leader in student success. Under her leadership, the college has expanded its impact through strategic partnerships, national board leadership, and the development of forward-thinking programs.

Dr. Napier, named a finalist for Rising Star Manager, has led pioneering initiatives in artificial intelligence at MGCCC. As the Director of MAIN, he has played a key role in developing AI-driven programs, fostering industry partnerships, and enhancing student learning experiences. His leadership has positioned MGCCC as a trailblazer in AI education, providing students with hands-on experiences in one of the most rapidly evolving fields.

In addition to these individual recognitions, MGCCC was also named a finalist in two additional categories for its commitment to promoting student success and belonging.

The AACC Awards of Excellence celebrate the outstanding achievements of the nation’s community colleges. Winners will be announced at the Awards of Excellence Gala on April 15, 2025, during the AACC Annual Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.
