The Goal

The Massage Therapy program is a one-year certificate program designed to prepare students for careers as professional massage therapists. The curriculum prepares students to develop knowledge and skills for practicing massage therapy.

Job Outlook

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has identified the job outlook for Massage Therapists for 2020-2026, which is expected to grow by 24 percent, growing much faster than average occupations. Licensed Massage Therapists can find employment in massage clinics, resort spas, hospital rehab clinics and wellness clinics, chiropractic offices, sports teams , hotels and cruise ships.

Cost

MGCCC has received a RESTORE Act grant to administer a Gulf Coast Work Ready Program designed to aid coastal citizens in the attainment of basic skills, employability skills and specific industry skills that are needed in high-demand industry sectors along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Due to the receipt of the grant, the Gulf Coast Work Ready Massage Therapy program will be offered to eligible students at no cost*.

* Some programs have additional costs associated with criminal background checks, instructional materials and external exam and licensure fees. Students may be responsible for the cost of these items. MGCCC is approved and licensed by MS State Board of Massage Therapy under Temporary License #1711.

Admission Requirements

As a part of the no cost program, students will be required to enroll and complete a “Work-Ready” credential specific to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to include employability skills training. Students must also meet admission requirements of MGCCC as well as program specific requirements.

Students must demonstrate that they are a Mississippi resident.
