Maravich averaged an impressive 26.3 points per game while shooting 44 percent from three-point range and an outstanding 88 percent from the free-throw line. His scoring ability led the Bulldogs to a 19-8 record and a spot in the NJCAA Region 23 championship game.
Throughout the season, Maravich consistently delivered high-level performances. He scored 31 points, including 13-of-16 free throws, in a 110-94 victory at East Central. In a tough loss to Pearl River, he made five three-pointers and totaled 33 points. One of his most memorable games was against Jones, where he made all 11 of his free throws and racked up 43 points to secure a 93-89 win.
Maravich’s contributions were essential in Gulf Coast’s Region 23 Tournament run. He scored 16 of his 22 points in the quarterfinals to lead a comeback victory over Northwest Mississippi and added 18 points in the semifinal win over Meridian. In his final game for the Bulldogs, Maravich scored 34 points, earning All-Region 23 Tournament Team honors despite the team’s loss in the championship game.
After transferring to William Carey, Maravich continued to excel, averaging 20.4 points and becoming a two-time NAIA All-American. Now, back in Covington, he shares his basketball knowledge with the next generation, teaching youth basketball lessons.
