Twenty-four MGCCC students win at state SkillsUSA competitions
Twenty-four
students from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College won at the state
SkillsUSA competitions held in Jackson, April 9-10. SkillsUSA Clubs of America
holds annual state competitions for career and technical students. Winners
compete at national competitions held in Louisville, Kentucky, during June each
year.
Winners from the George County Center are Raegan Rogers, Wiggins, first place,
Cosmetology; Hayley Burge, Hattiesburg, first place, Esthetics; Kendal Hunt,
Ocean Springs, first place, Esthetics Model; Annaliese Tomsik, Vancleave, third
place, Nails; Riley Savoy, Lucedale, third place, Nails Model; and Patrick
Moody, Lucedale, third place, Weld Sculpture.
The winner from the Jackson County Campus is Erik Pederson, Long Beach, second
place, Electronics Technology.
Winners from the Jefferson Davis Campus are Felicia Necaise, Pass Christian,
first place, Early Childhood Education; John Folding, Gulfport, first place,
Job Interview; Shelby Horton, Ocean Springs, first place, Commercial Baking; Kayan McCallum, Gulfport, first
place, Culinary Arts; Erick Rickman, Long Beach, second place, Electrical
Construction Wiring; Christopher Kangas, Biloxi, second place, HVAC;
Christopher Tanner, Vancleave, second place, Information Technology Services;
Richard Mahand, Gulfport, second place, Restaurant Service; Corey Stanley,
Ocean Springs, third place, Industrial Motor Control; and MacKenzie Sonnier,
Long Beach; Ciara Kramer, Ocean Springs; Abigail Farwell, Saucier; Michelle
