D’Iberville senior Franchesca Nguyen is awarded 2020 Gulf Coast STEM Scholarship
Franchesca Nguyen, a 2020 graduate of D’Iberville High School, has been selected to receive the 2020 Gulf Coast STEM Scholarship. The scholarship allows for Nguyen to receive $4,000 per semester for four semesters of study at Gulf Coast.
“One of the largest privately funded scholarships offered at MGCCC, this scholarship’s selection process includes several phases and is highly competitive,” said Dr. Kady Beaoui Pietz, associate vice president of Foundation and Alumni Relations. “The donor for the Gulf Coast STEM scholarship is an alum of the Perkinston Campus and wishes to remain anonymous. We are proud to announce the 2020 Gulf Coast STEM scholarship recipient is Ms. Franchesca Nguyen, a graduating senior from D’Iberville High School.”
Nguyen plans to major in radiology, working toward a bachelor degree in the subject. She is a member of National Honor Society, Beta Club, Key Club, Foreign Language Club, Junior Civitan and DECA Club. She attended Junior Leadership during her junior year, and served as class secretary on Student Council during her senior year.
“The STEM Scholarship donor hopes to provide students the exceptional experience that he had while a student at the Perkinston Campus,” said Pietz. “He met his wife at Perk, and although he continued his education toward a terminal degree, he attributes his success to his time at MGCCC.
