About the Program
MGCCC’s Process Operations Technology program is designed to prepare technicians for employment in the diverse field of process operations.
Many students are offered internships, and they will have the opportunity to work in a position related to process technology where they will receive work-related application of their classroom training.
Students graduating from the MGCCC Process Technology Programs will help fill the positions being left open due to growth in the industry and attrition. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the entry level salary for an Operator or Maintenance position is $50,000-$70,000/year.
Graduates of the is program are prepared for entry-level employment as technicians in operations like:
- Petroleum Refineries
- Power Generation Facilities
- Pharmaceutical Plants
- Chemical Plants
- Water and Waste Water Treatment Plants
- Food and Beverage Processing Plants
- Offshore Oil Production Facilities
- Many More
Also, they will have acquired the basic technical skills in equipment and systems and have a broadened vocabulary to make the job-specific learning less difficult.

Degree Options and Requirements
This program leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree and is preparatory for employment upon graduation from MGCCC. Where a transfer to a senior college or university is desired, a conference should be scheduled with a community college advisor for advisement.
All completers in Career Technical programs are required to take an Exit Exam prior to graduation to document academic gain. Graduates of Process Operations Technology are required to take the NOCTI National Certification Exam.
