Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will host a Hospitality Job Fair on Wednesday, October 24, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hospitality Resort Management Center (HRM) in Biloxi.  The Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce is co-sponsoring the event.

“MGCCC has outstanding hospitality and culinary programs that produce high-quality students who are ready to enter and be successful in the workforce,” said Lisa Bradley, director of Business Development and the HRM. “We have been contacted by businesses indicating a shortage of employees in these fields and asking about our students. We have a pool of employee prospects on campus daily, so we wanted to put the two together.  Additionally, we felt like this would be good opportunity for members of our community, so we are making efforts to reach out into the community to encourage anyone seeking a job in the hospitality industry to attend.”

The Job Fair will target hotels, restaurants, attractions, casinos and retailers. The intent is to help employers find employees for hospitality-related jobs, including seasonal work.

“October is a good time to offer the Job Fair. That’s the time of year when hospitality-industry employers start thinking about hiring seasonal labor for the holidays,” Bradley said. “This also gives our students the opportunity to gain experience in a part-time venue or even nab a full-time job.”

Workshops on such soft skills as interview prep and resume writing will be included in the event.  Employers will be present with job listings for their business, and many will offer the opportunity for on-the-spot interviews.

Members of the community are invited to attend the Hospitality Job Fair and are encouraged to bring their resumes and participate in the workshops offered by local staffing agencies. Participation is free.

Businesses that wish to participate should email Lisa Bradley for information and registration at lisa.bradley@mgccc.edu.
