Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Band of Gold’s Gold Medal Classic Marching Band Festival showcases 16 bands from across the state and region. Awards are given for festival ratings during the day (according to class size) and competition placement in the evening. Trophies are awarded for Best in Class, Most Outstanding Drum Major in Class, Most Outstanding Majorette(s) in Class, Most Outstanding Guard in Class, Most Outstanding Percussion in Class, Most Outstanding Dance Line in Class, and the Spirit Award, which goes to the band displaying the most class, courtesy and positive energy throughout the festival portion.
