Simaru Fields

Simaru recently led the Bulldogs to a decisive 82-50 victory against Itawamba. Fields made 11-of-13 shots from the field, including an impressive 4-of-6 from behind the arc. She put together a 28-point, four-assist, and five-steal night, leaving an impressive impact on the court.

Against Hinds earlier that week, Fields had 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists in limited playing time during an 84-38 victory. For the week, she shot 70 percent from the field, 50 percent from the 3-point line and made all her free throws.

Fields, from Pass Christian, had an impressive freshman year. Averaging 15.3 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.8 steals per game, Fields earned MACCC Freshman of the Year. She won spots on the All-MACCC First Team and All-NJCAA Region 23 Team and earned an invitation to the NJCAA Top 40 event in Atlanta.

Fields’ achievements did not go unnoticed during her high school career either, where she was recognized as the Sun Herald’s Player of the Year and secured a spot on the All-South Mississippi Team.

This season, Simaru continues to shine, earning the title of MACCC Player of the Week twice. Her consistent excellence on the court has helped lead the MGCCC’s women’s basketball team to the top of the standings during regular season play.

As the Bulldogs gear up for the remainder of the season, fans can anticipate more thrilling performances from Simaru and the rest of the team. The Bulldogs are set to return to Dantzler Arena on Monday, March 4, for Sophomore Night, where Fields and her teammates will face Northwest Mississippi. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. The anticipation is high as the No. 1-ranked MGCCC women’s basketball team continues their quest for success.
