Gabrielle Burton

Currently immersed in her major, Gabrielle envisions a transition to The University of Southern Mississippi upon graduation from MGCCC, where she plans to shift gears and delve into the study of Spanish. Her diverse academic interests reflect her curiosity and determination to explore various facets of education.

Though she is from Biloxi, Gabrielle chose the Perkinston Campus. Her decision was driven by a desire for a genuine college experience.

“I didn’t want college to feel like high school part two. I wanted to experience what it was like living away from home and get the full college experience,” she explained.

As a resident student, Gabrielle has embraced the challenges of “adulting,” acknowledging that it’s not as glamorous as it may seem. Navigating life away from home has been a significant learning curve, requiring her to push aside pride and seek help, ultimately leading to tremendous personal growth.

Engaged in various leadership roles, Gabrielle serves as a Barn leader, a PTK officer, and a member of the Honors College. These roles not only reflect her commitment to academic excellence but also highlight her active involvement in campus life. Despite the challenges, the most rewarding aspect of her time at Perkinston has been the people she’s met.

“I’ve met some of the best people God has ever created, and I have no idea what kind of person I would be today without them,” she shared.

Gabrielle’s close-knit family, centered around a shared love for music and the arts, plays a significant role in her life. Living with her mom, dad, and three younger brothers on weekends and holidays, Gabrielle admits that while they may drive her crazy, their bond is unbreakable. Their collective involvement in their church further underscores the importance of family and community in her life.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Gabrielle indulges in a range of hobbies that showcase her creative and expressive side. From roller skating and drawing to crocheting, singing, and immersing herself in music, Gabrielle’s multifaceted interests contribute to a well-rounded college experience.

As she continues to navigate the intricate tapestry of college life, Gabrielle Burton stands as a testament to the transformative power of education, community, and embracing one’s passions. Her journey at MGCCC reflects her courage to explore, learn, and grow, setting the stage for a future that combines fashion, language, and the richness of diverse experiences.
