Blue Cross / Blue Shield COVID-19 Information

College administration has been informed of the following by the State Insurance Administrator:

“In accordance with the recently signed federal law, Blue Cross & Blue Shield will waive any applicable deductibles, coinsurance, and/or copays normally collected from Plan participants for charges associated with the COVID-19 testing. In addition, participant copays for telemedicine (online provider) visits will be waived during this time to facilitate (both physically and economically) patients getting the care they need without further exposing themselves and/or their providers to the risk of contracting or spreading the virus. From our understanding, this move is consistent with actions to be taken by other carriers, as well as Medicare and Medicaid, during this emergency. While there are still some logistical details to work out with providers and affected vendors, we have moved quickly to relax these cost-sharing limits to be sure we keep the health and safety of our over 200,000 participants our top priority.”
